this page has some interesting facts about Mr. North (I'd be a liar if I said I didn't chuckle at the title, though! (O:) Seriously, be sure you read the entire thing...especially if you don't know what a reconstructionist is.
Also, the forum is quite informative...but be warned; non-christians post to this so language can get extreme.

Before you head off to any of these links, it might be a good thing for you to go thru a little de-programming, if you're visiting from Mr. North's website.
You need to understand that Gary North has a vested interest in trying to panic you (can you say, RECONSTRUCTIONIST? I knew you could!) He is also masterful at...well, shall we say colorful interpretation. That is to say, he reads into things more than what is there. He also loves to misquote people (Ken never said, 'y2k fears are nonsensical drivel'...Ken was commenting on a commentary about those with the 'guns & groceries' mentality)
Case in point...on his 'no big problem' page, there is a title of "gary north is insane". Yet if you read the article, the only statement made that even comes close to that is "start your sanity program now by ignoring Gary North".
He also likes to 'accidentally' leave out hyper-links.
I would like you to consider three things that may have affected your thinking before you even arrived at this site (Mr. North will probably now claim that I said "Gary North is brainwashing you!").

1) His commentary on the 'no big problem' page implies that unless someone in well known, they could not possibly have anything good to say. He also states they have very little information to back up their claims. There is alot more info out there then he thinks...he hopes his disciples will not be bothered to click thru to any links that might dis-agree with his position.

2) In regards to me, personally, he starts out with "I don't know who Ken is..." this also implies that because I'm unknown, I have nothing of importance to say. (by the way, I'm o.k. with that. The only acknowledgement I need is from God...not men.)

3) He makes use of biblical reference (for those who didn't look it up, it has to do with chosing between the way of God or the way of Baal (satan). This sets up an extreme polemic (implying that one of us is in the way of God, the other is the way of the devil.) Come on! because I don't bow down to the 'TEOTWAWKI' mentality?
And yet, according to my new e-mail fans I am the extremist. Puh-leeze.

I would just like to let you know that I disagree with everything you say about Y2K. Anyway, I removed the Y2K paper from the site for the simple reason that it is not needed. people who want to be alarmed and panic, will. I won't change their minds. and that is not what Christians are called to do. I have a commission to 'go and make disciples'. That is the main focus of this website. (besides, the piece on Craig Smith is already done word for word, months before I did it--- Here.) Much more humorus than I, also!
Further more, those who are researching objectively don't need my puny input. Whatever your thoughts, I hope you'll do some objective research of your own...

UPDATE: Y2K IS OVER The non-event came and went without so much as a whimper. Enjoy the new millennium!

this page stays up til Mr. North complies with my request to remove me from his site. I don't want my name associated with his.
update: North never did pull the link from his site, so I am leaving this one as well.
HE can be embarrassed forever, for all I care. Gary North is a seditionist,
and NO ONE should ever forget what he tried to do regarding y2k.
